Road Bump
Most of you know I taught 2nd grade before becoming a Mommy. 2nd grade was fun. Most of the kids could read, write complete sentences, and add double digits. And those that couldn't made great leaps by the end of the year. I enjoyed teaching and I think I did a fairly well job at it. With that said...I NEED someone to come and teach The May her ABC's. She knows A, B, C, sometimes D, and W. We bought her an ABC puzzle for Valentine's Day. She really enjoys helping put it together, but when it comes to identifying the letters she has no interest. Keep in mind this is my child who was speaking in complete sentences before she was 1. I thought she was going to be the brainiac. Boy have we hit a road bump. The Belle has even joined in on teaching her. It is so cute to hear The Belle "be the teacher". The Belle knew all of her letters at 18 months and knew most of their sounds by the time she was 2. Here is the difference The Belle wanted to learn and still does. The May well, she just wants to eat junk food and get into stuff so she can make a mess. I think I may be calling Sylvan soon.

I Heart My Pediatrician
I took The Lynn for her 2 month check up. All is well. She weighs 10lbs 10 ozs. While we were there I asked the pediatrician if there was anything else we could do for The Belle when she goes to her ear Dr. We had an appt. for today at 3:45. After explaining to her that The Belle becomes a bucking bronco when the Dr. walks in the door, she said "cancel your appt. and don't go back"! She wants us to give her a few weeks and bring her in to the office and let them look at her ears. If they feel that she needs to see a specialist at that point they will refer us to one who has the capability of giving The Belle gas in the office. She made a very good point: patients get gas when they go to the dentist why can't they at the ear Dr. This is such a HUGE relief to me! When I told The Belle that she didn't have to ever go back to the ear Dr. she got the biggest grin on her face.
Thanks to Carla for keeping The Belle and The May while I took The Lynn to the Dr.!

Valentine Party
The girls had their first annual Valentines Party at church on Sunday night. They were so excited to give out their valentines that they had wrote their names on. I stood at the door throughout the majority of the party so I could see how much fun they were having. They have the most amazing teachers on Sunday nights. These ladies have made my girls LOVE church. Yes, they do have an occasional bribe here and there but, I think at their age you have to appeal to their senses (mainly food, playdough, and dancing). The two of them have not stopped talking about how much fun they had.

Bucking Bronco
I can't believe it has been a week since I last posted. The days are so busy that I haven't had a chance to post. There isn't really anything new going on right now. The Belle had an ear Dr. appt. last Friday. She has to have a checkup for her tubes. Her right tube is out but we are not sure about her left. There is dried up blood covering her ear drum and the Dr. can't see in there. So, we have been giving her ear drops for the past couple of weeks. We have to go back next Wed. The HORRIBLE thing about it is that The Belle is terrified of the Dr. I can't even describe in words how stressful it is for me and her when we go. There is lots of screaming, crying, shaking all over, and bucking like a bronco...all from her of course (although I too have left in tears). We actually gave her some zanax the last time we went and it had absolutley no effect during the visit. I have to take The Lynn to the pediatrician next week and I am going to see if there is anything else we can do for The Belle. I suggested to the ear Dr. that we give her some anesthesia. He laughed...I didn't. Other than that we are keeping busy. Now that the weather is warm we have been going outside every afternoon before lunch. The girls act as if they are escaped animals when we go out. I can't wait for Summer so they can play outside all day.

Olivia
This is a picture of Husband and The Belle when she was about 6 months old. Husband is reading her "Olivia" (thanks to Aunt Emily's Aunt Joan for the books!). If you have never read these books you need to. She is a cute little pig with a big imagination. Well, "Olivia" is now a cartoon. The girls love it! So, the other night they both wanted Husband to watch it with him. About 5 minutes into the show Husband declares that he can not watch it anymore because the pigs are making him sick. He says that they remind him of a scene on "Silence of The Lambs". He spent the entire show with a pillow over his face. Everytime he would catch a glimpse of a pig he would shiver all over. Not only, do we own a collection of the books, but we also have framed pictures of Olivia in the nursery. And now we can watch Olivia whenever we want (of course while Husband is not here).
